LETTERS TO THE EDITOROctober 2011
LettersWill, How would I make a financial contribution to CRO without having to use PayPal? I don’t use any of of those Electronic Payment features. Thanks, Reg. Fitzpatrick Bracebridge, Ontario Thank you for your letter and your kind offer to make a donation Reg. All our staff work for free and donate hours of their spare time. As you might imagine, it is costly to maintain our CRO website, mailserver, large bandwidth, with hundreds of monthly readers dialing us up, often at the same time! Other costs include our prizes and give gift packages (CRO Caps, DVD’s etc) to winners and to those offering $75 - $100 donations. If pertinent, we can make CRO advertising arrangements at no cost, to those offering $50 plus donations. To answer your question, while most of our readers and advertisers prefer using PAYPAL, most bank now allow you to send money by email. They can be sent to donations@canadinarailwayobservations.com We do accept donations by check. Send an email to editor@canadianrailwayobservations.com for details. Will, Just a quick note to advise that GO GP-40TC, #606 (shown in the August issue in break-in service on CN) was dark navy blue, not black as stated. At this point they were frequently seen at the Spadina roundhouse as GO's Willowbrook locomotive facilities had yet to be built. Keep up the good work, I look forward to each issue of CRO. Regards, Gord McOuat VP / Master Mechanic OERHA / Halton County Radial Rwy. ON. My Bad Gord, having never seen #606 in person, I was going only by the photo, which appears to be black . I stand corrected. Thanks. (Will) Re- your "On the Road" section. Walter's photos of the Halton County Radial Railway are excellent! I've been a member of the museum since 1983, but have been much less active since I moved to Alberta fourteen years ago. It is nice to see it recognized in a National forum such as CRO! Cheers, Alex Reed Alberta From the EditorHi All, We received many letters about the September issue of CRO, and we thank you for your feedback. Many readers liked our complete VIA coverage last month. A tip of the hat to our VIA Editor Tim Hayman who did a superb job. Our Assistant Editor/Photo Editor Walter Pfefferle and US coordinator Ed Weisensel worked 110% on the issue as far as visual presentation, editing and fact checking. We also got positive comments on Jody Moores Green Locomotive News column, which had a wealth of hot news in September. Dan Dell’Unto, Don McQueen, Roman Litarchuk, J-F Turcotte, John Read, Donna Peters, and the rest of the Staff help create this great issue.
